The Robert Gordon PTA is proud to support

The Picture Person Program

Al Walcoff is RG's Picture Person champion and Mrs. Scutro, the RG Art Teacher, is assisting him with the program. They have a tremendous inventory of famous art work they can provide to parents. Once parents select an artist, they can have fun presenting the art work to their child's classroom. With this simple program, your child is brought into a veritable museum inside the doors of Robert Gordon.

Here is how to become a Picture Person (it's easy):

  1. You select an artist (or subject) to present to your child’s classroom - Al will provide you with the art work and fun facts to bring into the classroom.

  2. A day and time that works for you and the classroom is arranged with Mrs. Kenny.

  3. You review the art work and fun facts about the artist or the style used. This will help you decide what topics you would like to discuss during your presentation to the children.

  4. You go into the classroom with the selected art work and let the children take over! Let them express what they see or feel while they look at the art work. You can lead them through whichever points you think are valuable.

  5. You end the presentation after 15 or 20 minutes, collect the art work and go to the other classroom for the same grade. When you complete both classroom sessions (30 minutes total), you return the art work to Al or Mrs. Scutro.

Come join the Picture Person Program and
help our children enjoy viewing and discussing art.

Here is a sample of artists (subjects) available to present to each grade. There may be more than listed here so please ask if you are interested in learning about more options.
