I hope everyone is enjoying the relatively mild winter that is upon us. These short winter days give us plenty of time to spend with our families. Winter evenings give us time to read with our children.
As you know, this year we are concentrating on building reading stamina. Time your child to see how long he or she can read without becoming fidgety. Make it a game to see how many minutes this can increase over time.
Parents of students in grades 1 through 5 should check your child's agenda book each and every night. This book not only lists your child's nightly homework but may include notes from the teachers.
Remember, the bell rings at 8:20. One of the best things you can do to ensure the success of your child is to make sure he/she enters the school with his/her class every morning. The learning begins promptly when they enter the classroom.
